Jam

We’ve been “jamming” for a while! We love to make all types of jams. A favorite to make is peach jam because it is fun to peel off the skin after blanching. Peach jam is very delicious and always brings a wonderful house aroma!

Jamming takes time, often the whole morning long. We pick the best fruit, wash it well, cut and inspect each piece, and then cook the fruit to become jam. We use a water bath canner to seal our jams for shipping and long-term shelf storage.

Peach jam goes fast in our home because of its intense peach flavor and the fresh bread that accompanies jam days. Yum, yum!

Oil Infusion

The process of making oil infusions takes time, often days to complete. Medicinal leaves must be dried and then carefully calculated to proper ratios of herb to oil. Once the herbs infuses for a few hours, it is then cooled and allowed to settle for at least a day. For salve making, the last step would be to once again, warm the infusion and add beeswax for a final product.

Drying

Our medicinal herbs are carefully and respectfully picked, washed, and placed in a dehydrator. Some herbs take longer to dry than others, but usually drying takes 1 day to completely dry at a set temperature. Once dried, medicinal herbs are then stored and used for medicine.
